Dear colleagues and friends,
My name is Yves Ndagano. I am an artist, theater maker and a student at the Kunsthochschule fur Medien, Cologne, Germany.
Today, I am reaching out to you to ask for your solidarity and compassion for the children of Goma in Kivu, a region in the Democratic Republic of Congo that has been ravaged by war and violence for over 30 years. As the founder and director of Sikilik Afrika / Africa must be heard an organization committed to promoting peace and peaceful conflict resolution. Since its founding 14 years ago, we have been supporting children emerging from armed groups, homeless children, former child miners, and children born of rape in Kivu. At Sikilik Afrika the year round we do this through the creative arts ; workshops ; theater ; music ; dance ; all of this based in a dedicated community center with residential homes and support.
Everyday I witness the daily suffering of these young individuals who have been robbed of their childhood due to an ongoing war imposed upon them by the extractivism of capitalist interests in the pursuit and exploitation of the mineral resources of the Kivu region. Already scarred by traumatic experiences, these children find themselves in extreme precarious situations. They often lack access to the basics : food, medical care, safe shelter.
This is why today I am asking you to join our cause. The situation is urgent. Your contribution, no matter how large or small, will make a significant difference to their lives.
With your help, we directly fund :
– Three daily meals for these children who have nothing to eat ,
– Supply of essential medications for those in need
– Housing costs to ensure a safe place for them to live during continuous war time.
Every contribution counts, and together we can bring a glimmer of hope to those most in need :
Let us stand united in our support for the people of Kivu.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment.
